Treating Trauma: The CBT Approach
This on-demand course allows you to attend the training in your own time and at your own pace. This practical course focuses on helping therapists to gain comprehensive understanding, competency, and skills in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) when treating trauma.
It covers topics such as ethical considerations in treating trauma, what CBT for trauma is, as well as CBT concepts used in treating trauma. We look at different types of trauma and treatments. We explore Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), as well as look at CPT for sexual assault. This course also includes practical examples, case studies and roleplays to allow an understanding of how the theories look in practice.
Although some basic concepts of CBT are covered it is recommended that you have some understanding of CBT before taking this course. We have the course Foundations of CBT available for those that would like to have a comprehensive grounding in the theory and practice of CBT. This on-demand training is derived from the CBT courses Cindy Strydom, Clinical Psychologists has been presenting on since 2016.
